Portable Appliance Testing
Leading to the City & Guilds 2377-200 and the City & Guilds 2377-100 qualifications
Enabling you to carry out the legal requirement for annual testing and certification of portable electrical appliances e.g. kettles and TVs provided by employers, landlords and hoteliers etc.
Description
Portable Appliance Testing involves the issuing of electrical safety certificates for appliances such as computers, kettles, monitors and other portable electrical equipment. Under the Electricity at Work Act employers, landlords, hoteliers etc. who provide portable electrical appliances for use by others have a legal obligation to ensure they are safe to use. All portable electrical appliances must be inspected and tested by a competent person every 12 months and the recording (or management) of these annual inspections is an extremely important and necessary part of compliance. Successful completion of this course will enable you to carry out this annual testing and offer this service as part of your scope of works.
Who it’s for
Anyone who is directly involved in the physical undertaking of portable appliance testing and/or the management of such as a subsidiary part of their employed status duties. This course would also be suitable for any person or company wishing to offer their services to others enabling them to comply.
Note: Candidates intending to limit their offer to just portable appliance testing and certification should opt for the 1 day 2377-200 course. Candidates who have additional responsibility for the on-going management and acceptance of the introduction of new appliances should extend their training a further day to include the 2377-100 award, which will formally demonstrate their knowledge and ability to manage the register of appliances in a given environment.
