Description
ACS gas competency certificates have a lifespan of 5 years and then need renewing. These reassessment courses are designed for operatives who are renewing their ACS qualifications (those due to expire or expired within the last 12 months). Failure to renew a certificate renders an operative ineligible to work on gas lawfully. Operatives who are renewing their qualifications have the choice to undertake these shorter reassessment courses or an initial assessment. The reassessment process has been solely designed to assess the operative’s ongoing competence to be able to carry out gas work safely. In addition to the reassessments an optional additional day of appliance training is available. Retraining is not mandatory and reassessment should not hold any fears for the experienced operative, however the vast majority of candidates undertake some form of retraining prior to their re-assessment to bring them up to speed with industry developments that have come about since they last took ACS assessments, for example the introduction of new technology, changes to normative documents, new installation methods and practices.
Who it’s for
Existing gas operatives who hold expiring or expired ACS certificates (by not more than 12months) or an aligned Gas Services N/SVQ (less than 72 months from date of issue). To save operatives’ time and cost we recommended that reassessment takes place with both core gas safety and appliances at the same time.
